| MEMORABLE DISC GOLF MOMENT |
|
In the summer of 2008 I went on a missions trip to Davao Philippines. During my time there I was able to share disc golf with many people and students. To my knowledge this is the first time anyone has brought this sport to the Philippines. It was amazing to see the faces of everyone who tried it, and those who just watched and laughed! It was a huge hit and is now being played at a fitness facility and at several schools. I am just so happy and thankful I was able to share our sport in a country that has never seen it!

| Miles' Disc Golf Tips |
Power Down Your Brain
For me the hardest thing to learn was overcoming myself. I used to be hard on myself about missed shots and missed opportunities. It wasn't until I learned how to deal with pressure and turn my brain off that I truly started having fun. And guess what? My play got better in the process! I see so many new golfers that have great talent already, but they have horrible tournaments. My advice is to try and turn your brain off. During a tournament round don't think about technique, timing, how the other guy is playing, or that you need this shot. All you're doing is putting more pressure on yourself. Turn your brain off try to hit your line.
Pull Back, Look Away
Take your eye off the target. I know, that sounds crazy, like the opposite of what you're trying to do. I see a lot of players that have distance problems aren't turning their body away from the target when they drive. Distance is created from using you major muscle groups like you hips and shoulders, not just your arm. Until you learn to turn your body away from what you're aiming at, these muscles wont be using their full potential. It might take you a while to get your aiming down, but I with practice you will learn to be accurate and get more distance.
Practice For Those Who Don't Practice
I get a lot of questions about how I practice. The best answer I can give is to go to a field and find two objects you can throw back and fourth to using a different shot each time. But lets face it, most disc golfers want to play, or don't have time to practice and play. For these people I suggest playing your round like normal, only each time you play try throwing different shots. Don't just throw the same shot on a hole every time. Try something new, a different disc or a different line. By doing this your forcing yourself to learn different shots and getting to know your discs. You might find that the route that works better for you isn't the one everyone else throws.
The Helpful Forehand
One thing I have noticed recently is how much a simple 250 foot forehand can improve your game. I finally got sick of seeing everyone on my card park short holes with a forehand that I couldn't with a backhand. So I started learning one. I am not talking about an awesome forehand that you can crush over mountains; I am talking about a simple accurate forehand. I cannot throw mine over 300 feet, but its amazing how many strokes it has saved me!
Stay Within Your Own Limits One of the problems I had when I first started playing was trying to play my opponents' game. Just because someone can throw farther then you, takes more risks, or throws more trick shots, doesn't mean you have to. No matter what your opponents do you need to play your game. Learn your limits and stay within them.

ESP NUKE (173 - 174) |
Farthest flying disc ever!! This thing flies so far so fast it will make you head hurt!
|
Z Predator (173 - 174) |
Best driver ever made! I use this disc for EVERYTHING. Turnovers, straight, hyzers. I carry three at all times, each one slightly more stable than the next. Makes for a good progression, as one gets too beat in I take it out and the others move down a spot in the bag and a new one is added at the top. I love them mostly because they are consistent! There is no fear when I throw them because I know they will finish left. Which makes the disc very predictable. If you want a driver you can depend on for every situation reach for a PRED!
|
ESP Predator (173 - 174) |
I like Preds, what can I say?! I like to beat these in so they are a little more understable then their Z counterparts. This makes them useful for long turnovers without the fear that it won't come back. I use this one for windy day rollers. You get the same predictability with them in the air as well as on the ground!
|
FLX Predator (173 - 174) |
Super stable big hyzer disc. I use this disc anytime I have a huge head wind or need a huge hyzer. It's one I can always trust!
|
ESP Force (173 - 174) |
BOOOOOMMMMMM!!!! That pretty much says it all. Super fast disc that is stable and controllable. I use this disc for my long air shots when a Pred doesn't quite have the distance. It handles headwinds like a champ and when beat in a little develops HUGE S bomb abilities! Its also very useful as a sidearm disc. Consistent and goes FAR. What more could you want?!
|
Z Force (173 - 174) |
Super stable big hyzer disc. I use this disc anytime I have a huge head wind or need a huge hyzer. It's one I can always trust!
|
ESP Pulse (173 - 174) |
I use the Pulse for my sidearms. Its low profile allows a very clean exit from your hand and a smooth flight with great ground skipping abilities. Probably my favorite thing about it is the thumb track! It has a small thumb track around the edge that is right where I like to put my thumb, which gives me a little more grip.
|
ESP Surge (173 - 174) |
I carry a beat in Surge for my main roller. I like it because it flips fast and easy which is awesome for tunnel rollers. And when I am out in the open it can sky roll with the best of them!
|
ESP Tracker (173 - 174) |
If you want a consistent straight flier it's hard to beat the Tracker. It is very useful for those long tunnels where a mid range just won't reach.
|
Z Surge SS (173 - 174) |
I love this thing for rollers. It has a wider rim then most rollers which fits me perfectly. If you having trouble learning a roller, give this one a shot!

FLX Drone (173 - 174) |
An amazing upshot disc! I reach for the Drone when I need to really trust a short shot. It's great for tricky greens and is super stable, so it makes windy situations seem like nothing.
|
Z Buzzz (173 - 174) |
BUZZZZZZZZZ!! Best mid on the planet! If you want something that goes straight, and straight, then finishes straight, the Buzzz is for you. Nothing flies like a Buzzz!

D Challenger (173 - 175) |
The Challenger doesn't float around like other putters. It goes straight and finishes strong. No worries about it taking off and doing something you don't want.
|
ESP Banger GT (max wt) |
Its an awesome driving putter! I use it off the tee whenever I get the chance and it's got great upshot abilities!
|
ESP Zone (max wt) |
Predictable. If you need a short drive and approach disc that can be trusted in all situations then reach for a Zone.
