Team Discraft's Daymon Pugh

Daymon Pugh / Team Discraft NAME: Daymon Pugh
TEAM: Elite X
HOMETOWN: Royal Oak, MI
PDGA #: 12248
2007 PDGA RATING: 996
BORN: 1970
STARTED IN DISC GOLF: 1991
always a bridesmaid: Daymon has racked up nearly 50 2nd place finishes in his disc golf career.
MEMORABLE DISC GOLF MOMENT:
Call me corny, but my favorite moment was at the Bowling Green Open my pro rookie year, when I found myself alone in 3rd place after the first day. The next morning I'm walking past Ken Climo and he says, 'You're Daymon Pugh, nice shooting!' I had no idea he even knew who I was. It was my birthday, so I was pretty stoked!
Daymon's Disc Golf Tips
I see a lot of players dipping their shoulders, which typically only ends in bad shots, thoughts of bag kicking, heartbreak and the occasional lost disc. Here's an easy way to break that bad habit. Imagine there is a chair on the tee: if you dip your shoulder, you're going to smack the chair!
COURSES YOU SHOULD PLAY:
Daymon Pugh / Team Discraft
Course Comments
Addison Oaks
Leonard, MI
It was better before they changed it, but it's still challenging.
Black Range Lodge
Kingston, NM
Be prepared for a 5 or 6 hour round... the scenery alone is worth it.
Kensington Toboggan
Milford, MI
One of the most difficult courses in Michigan, lots of elevation changes.
Flip City
Shelby, MI
Has a wide diversity of shots, and is the most well maintained course in MI.
Ludington Park
Ludington, MI
Multiple courses. It makes my list now that they brought it out of the third world with new baskets.
In The Disc Golf Bag: Drivers
Disc Comments
X Avenger
(max weight)
The Avenger is very predictable, and I demand consistency from all my discs. I carry three different ones, all beat up too a varying degrees of stability.
Z Tracker
(max weight)
Doesn't have the glide of the Avenger, but again very predictable and consistent.
X XS
(max weight)
It's a nice roller and a straight driver.
Z Predator
(max weight)
I use it for a finger flip disc. If your sidearm shot is like mine -- not very good -- then you'll probabaly find the Predator is very easy to control.
DGA Tsunami
(max weight)
I use it mainly as a headwind and tight hyzer disc. Very overstable.
X Storm
(max weight)
Why don't I see more Storms on the course? The Storm is the most underrated of all Discraft discs. I can throw it almost as far as my other drivers, and you'll be suprised how straight it goes.
In The Disc Golf Bag: Midrange
Disc Comments
Z Buzzz
(max weight)
Another very predictable disc. The Buzzz will hold almost any line you throw it on.
In The Disc Golf Bag: Putt and Approach
Disc Comments
D Challenger
(max weight)
I love the Challenger as a stable short range driver and headwind putter.
Soft Magnet
(max weight)
They seem to stick in the chains better than the firm versions.
