Winning the US Amatuer Disc Golf Championship. The BEST amateur tournament I've ever seen. |

ESP Force (173 - 174)
|
One of the farthest and fastest flying discs on the market. Has taken my game to another level and helped me get birdies I never thought possible. |
Z Force (173 - 174)
|
With a little extra stability to fight a Kansas headwind, this disc has given me the consistency of a Predator with a LOT more distance. If I could carry only one disc in my bag, this would definitely be it. |
Z Predator (171 - 174) |
The best disc out there. Super fast and predictable in any wind. I carry two in the bag, one fairly new (for long hyzers and skip shots) and one beat in (to flip up and hold a straight line a little longer). |
ESP Avenger SS (173 - 174) |
This disc is perfect for both HUGE rollers and big turnover shots. I also use it for dead straight shots in tight fairways. |
ESP Surge (174 gm)
|
When I need distance, I call upon the Surge. This disc feels great in the hand and flies forever. I carry three in my bag, each one a little less beat in (and more stable) then the next. |

ESP Buzzz (174 - 178) |
Unbelievable disc. Holds ANY line you put it on and flies forever. I throw this disc hyzer, anhyzer, and straight with great confidence. This disc does it all! |
ESP Meteor (178 gm) |
This disc, in my opinion, is the most underrated disc out there. This disc flat out BOMBS! Many times I will catch myself outdriving some of my drivers with this disc in practice. The Meteor also makes a perfect beginner disc with the distance of a driver and controllability of a midrange. |
ESP Wasp (174 - 178) |
When I need something a little less straight and more stable than the Buzzz, the wasp is where it's at. Flies just as far as the ESP buzz but with a predictable finish left every time. |
FLX Drone (177 - 178) |
Another very predictable disc. Finishes left EVERYTIME which makes it my go to disc for approach shots, especially in heavy Kansas winds.. |

D Challenger (174 - 175) |
I use this discs for shorter approach shots and jump putts. Holds a line great in moderate wind with a predictable and slight finish left. |
X Soft Challenger (174 gm) |
My main putter, as well as my approach disc for straight or anhyzer shots. This disc feels great in the hand and sticks in the basket on those 'not so perfect' putts.

| Jake's Disc Golf Tips |
Develop a routine that works, and stick with it. Some of the world's best disc golfers have developed some of the oddest routines when preparing for their next shot. It may look weird, but if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. Also, don't play disc golf to 'cash', play to have fun. So many disc golfers I encounter worry so much about whether they will cash in an event, and I often fall into the same trap. But if your focusing on money instead of having fun, you're missing the point of disc golf altogether. Focusing more on having fun in your next tournament will help you relax, feel less pressure, and more than likely, play better.
Don't try to hrow too hard. When you throw as hard as you can on every shot your accuracy suffers. Let your disc do the work. Work on a smooth, fluid delivery and... get a SURGE!
I try to practice EXACTLY how I play in an actual tournament round. That means checking the wind, setting up my approach, and most importantly taking my time. When I practice putting, I like to use one putter and a mini. That way, it forces me to focus on one putt at a time.
Have fun. Sometimes when you are don't play well, it is easy to get frustrated out on the course. Don't get down on yourself and always keep disc golf in perspective. It's a game, and games are supposed to be fun.
Practice 'weird' shots. Looking for a way to eliminate one or two strokes from each round? Then practice those shots you encounter when you are in a tough position (i.e. directly behind a tree, behind a bush, etc.) Practice awkward stances, off-hand pitchouts, and experiment with different discs. You'll be amazed the different ways a disc will fly with great accuracy.
